IT HAS BEEN A WHILE

Sorry it has been so long since I have been on here long enough to write on my blog.......life is really busy some times.........but here is a few of the things I have been doing.......

First is a rag quilt I made for the bed in the guest bedroom/ my sewing room......

This is a bag I made for a baseball team that has a member that has leukemia and is in the hospital..... the team is going to sign it for him...Please keep this little boy in your Prayers....

These are some hairbows that I crocheted........

This is what I have been busy doing today......string beans......I did 7 quarts today...and will probably do at least that many next week.........

More crocheted items......most of them are dishclothes.....a cup cozy and a notepad/pen holder.....I have crocheted for a while...but have never learned to read patterns......that is why I am working on dishclothes.......and now I can understand the pattern terms..... at least some of them.............

I hope I will be able to catch up with my blogging friends and keep you posted ...a little better....
I have really missed you all.......

BUSY BUSY BUSY.....

I got up yesterday and put a ham in the oven.....then I hung out the clothes...I love the way they smell :)

Then I went to get some strawberries....isn't that a beautiful field of strawberries....and then the close up ....I could eat them right off the vine......and no I didn't pick my own......Then when I got home I made this little keychain....the same lady that did the class on bookmarks also did this class.....
And for dessert we had strawberry shortcake.....that was just the thing to top off the ham....I bake it low and slow..then put pepper vinegar on it ...let the skin brown up......we enjoyed it..

This is what I worked on today..... Linda at http://quiltcookies.blogspot.com/ made some of these cute little flat dolls, she also posted a link to the pattern.....the first picture of the doll is with her little dress on, in the next one you can see the velcro that holds the dress on....this is the only one I had time to make...but I had a lot of fun..I will be making more......

FARRIC BASKET

I have been seeing these baskets for a while now and wanting to make one...so this is what I made today...I what been needing something to put my hairspray and all that stuff in...my bathrooms are small and this one is really small...so I don't have much space on the counter top...and I think this will work pretty good at keeping all these things in one place....

SOME OF THE THINGS I HAVE DONE THIS WEEKEND

Do you remember all those patterns that I showed you a while back....the ones given to me that were sitting beside the dumster.......well...I finally made a dress....I think it turned out pretty good......I made a change or two........mostly instead of putting the facing at the neck...I made the over blouse...or have ever you want to call it.....I like and need to hide under that kind of thing.

I also made these little coin purses...the smaller ones you can use as a key chain and put in your drivers license, bank card or credit card, the larger one can also be used the same way...but it is large enough to carry your cell phone also. The red and white striped fabric is left over from aprons I have made....the rest Ada gave me.....it is from a samples book...of fabric for out door pillows and furniture...I love to use up fabric that would otherwise be in the trash.

FINISHED SEWING PROJECTS

I have gotten a couple things finished in the last couple days. I got the fabric for the apron at Walmart, I have always loved sunflower fabric and when I saw this I had to have some, I also love making aprons and really like the chef apron, I have been putting one big pocket across the front, but on this one I made two small pockets, I think I like the way they look. The birth announcement is for the Grandchild of a lady I work with, it is small and should be a pretty good size for his room.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BOBBY & LEE

Some friends of ours had their 40th anniversary last Sunday and as usual I am a day late and a dollar short (ok may be more than a day late & probably more than a dollar short), anyway I made this banner for them. I work with them so I will take it to them tomorrow. By the way that is the way Lee spells her name, as she says just like a boy.
I have been kind if busy lately and haven't done much with my blog...I have been stopping by to check up on everyone though, I will try to do better this week.

GOD BLESS YOUR 4th

I Pray your 4th has been a Blessed one. I have been off work this week and I can really say I have enjoyed myself. I haven't really done much, including blogging, but I have been on Facebook a lot, they have a new game on there called Farm Town, I have to say it is very addictive...but a lot of fun.

Jason ask me to make these sock monkeys for a lady he works with, her daughter in having a little girl and this will he his gift to her.

JOURNAL COVERS

I made these journal covers for the Grands for Easter and I forgot to post them. They all seem to really enjoy them. There is a lot of ways to make them and change them up. One pic I saw of them, the crayons each had a pocket, but I made these to hold the box of crayons and a pad of paper.
Yesterday on my way home I had to wait for road construction, when the pilot truck came it said 'pilot truck follow me' so every one just follow along. It made me think why when that truck says 'follow me' we do it.....but when JESUS says " FOLLOW ME" we sometimes hesitate

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

POCKETBOOK

Sammy gave me that beautiful charm pack for Mother's Day and I have been itching to make something with some of it. I just finsihed this pocketbook. I didn't have a pattern but I did go back and look at some of Sunday-Girls pocketbooks from a while back. I think I am go to like the size, not too big, but not too small. I really love the colors that are in this charm pack.

I GOT DRAWERS FOR MOTHER'S DAY

I have been needing to organize my sewing area better for a while (and yes I need to vacuum), so I ask Eddie for drawers for Mother's Day, to put my thread and other things in, he is always happy for me to tell him what I want or need that way he doesn't have to shop around thinking of something. I still have a lot of organizing to do, but you can see my machine embroidery thread in one drawer and my serger thread in another one and in another is woolly nylon thread, I use that for rolled hems on things like baby blankets. In that drawer I also have interfacing and a few more things. There is four drawers as you can see, I didn't open the top one but it has several different things in it that I need for sewing, like straight pins, ink pens and patterns.

I just got an order of embroidery thread this week, I have been getting it at Walmart for a little over $ 4.00 or New Bern Fabric Center for a little over $ 5.00, I ordered this from Threadarthttp://www.threadart.com/shop/category.asp?catid=7 for $1.65 a spool and it works great so I am going to be ordering from there when I need more.

MY FARBIC STASH

This is what I have been working on today, trying to get my fabric stash organized, I was visiting amandajean at http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/ , and she had a link to http://thehappyzombie.com/blog/?p=124 , she has a very neat way to fold fabric, I followed it for the pieces that were at least a yard, they are in the first picture, and then in the next picture, they are less then a yard, but I still used the same ruler and then just folded it in thirds, I think they turned out pretty good, this isn't all of the fabric I have, but the other pieces are larger, I used the cardboard that they have the fabric on in the store to wrap it around, then pulled it out and folded it in half, I have them stored in a larger container.
PSALM 46; 1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
