A COUPLE INVITED GUEST & 1 UNINVITED GUEST

Caitlyn and Caroline came over last night...we got up the tree.....watched some TV......we watched Marley & Me....up until the end........we had already seen the movie and didn't want to see that part...it is sooooo sad. We were watching another movie and then Caitlyn saw a mouse...yes a mouse......I am scaried of mice and so are the girls...and Papa was on the computer....we call him into the livingroom and he set a couple traps........the mouse got in one of them...it squealed...Cailtyn started crying....she said I didn't know mice really squealed......now it is going to die...and said I didn't want Papa to kill it......I told her it was me that told him to set the trap......BUT that bad little thing got out........sooooo we still have that bad thing in the house......we now have three traps set....and if we don't soon catch it I am going to set MORE....I hate mice...but when you live behind a field you are going to have a mouse or two.

I HAVE BEEN BUSY

I am not sure where time goes sometimes......we had Dish network hooked back up last weekend....we also got..... DSL...... we hooked it up Wednesday night.......at all last...we have been wanting it forever......so far so good.

This is a few other things I have been working on.....
This is a rag quilt....Eddie took the picture.....needs to be a little closer....it has pink roses and another pink flower...with solid pink squares and blue flannel between the layers..that seems to give it a little extra color.
These are some fabric travel trays.....you can put your jewelry in them when you are at the motel .....and if you wear glasses you can put them in there too.......they have velcro in the corners that holds them together.....when you get ready to leave just open them up.....and they lay flat in your luggage....next is a coaster set with a tray....I didn't use velcro on the corners of this tray I just sewed them.
Cheryl has been having trouble with kidney stones again......they removed them yesterday....she knew they were going to get one ...but they saw two more and were able to get them too.....she has been in a lot of pain but with pain med she is able to handle it.....Keep her in your Prayers.
I Corinthians 15: 58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

I have been extra busy lately.......not that I have been getting a lot done........I started a rag quilt Saturday.....I almost have it sown together.....but I ran out of thread.....with all the thread I have Eddie can't believe I need more thread...but I just don't have the right color.....I will post a picture when I am finished.
Cheryl brought the girls by Saturday afternoon .......aren't they cute.....they were going to the fall festival at their church........they enjoyed helping me pick out pecans..........I went Friday and picked up two buckets full......I have already picked out three quart bags full.....and have at least that many more to pick out.

E-MAIL I WANTED TO SHARE

I received this e-mail from Uncle Bob..I like this one and wanted to share...
-----
No matter what our kids and the new generation think about us, WE ARE AWESOME !!! OUR LIFE IS LIVING PROOF !!! To Those of Us Born 1925 - 1970 : At the end of this email is a quote of the month by Jay Leno. If you don't read anything else, please read what he said. Very well stated, Mr. Leno. ~~~~~~~~~ TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930s, '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s!! First, we survived being born to mothers who may have smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then, after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets, and, when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps, not helmets, on our heads. As infants and children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes. Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter, and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And we weren't overweight. WHY? Because we were always outside playing...that's why! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. --And, we were OKAY. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes.. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We did not have Play Stations, Nintendos and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVDs, no surround-sound or CDs, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from those accidents. We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping-pong paddles, or just a bare hand, and no one would call child services to report abuse. We ate worms, and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls, and -although we were told it would happen- we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them. Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, and inventors ever. The past 50 to 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas.. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. If YOU are one of those born between 1925-1970, CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good. While you are at it, forward it to your kids, so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were. Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ? ~~~~~~~ The quote of the month by Jay Leno: "With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"
REVELATION 3;20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

SUNDAY WAS A GREAT DAY

Sunday was homecoming at Grace FWB in Rocky Mount....that is the church Sammy is pastoring........it was a great day.........the Men of Faith Quartet sang from 10:00 till 11:00......they did a wonderful job.......they also sang a couple more songs during the worship service......the last song they sang was "Working on a Building'.......then Sammy preached about Working on a Building...he did a great job.......Pearl is 6 now and she ask the Lord to save her soul about a year ago.....then she started talking to Lori about being saved........Lori told her Mom one night she wanted the Lord to live in her heart....she wanted to live for the Lord and go to heaven one day.......by the way Lori is five....they were both baptized Sunday........the entire day was a great big Blessing. As most of you know Homecoming is not over until lunch is served.......that was goooood too.
I will however have to apologize to Jason, Cheryl and the girls it was Homecoming at their church too.......but with the girls being baptized we had to be there.
We also stopped by to see my sister and her husband on our way home...it was great to visit with them....they have really worked in their yard the past couple years....it looks great...their house is beautiful too.

It was late when we got home Sunday and then yesterday we worked another 12 hour day...so this is the first chance I have had to post.

MATTHEW 18

2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.

TOTE BAG

Ada ask me to make this bag.......she gave me the fabric and strap material....so I made it last night....took it to work today.......she is going to put it in a new store in NB.......I hope the lady that owns the store likes it. I think the color of the fabric and the pumpkin on it makes it look like fall.

SOME OF THE THINGS I HAVE DONE THIS WEEKEND

Do you remember all those patterns that I showed you a while back....the ones given to me that were sitting beside the dumster.......well...I finally made a dress....I think it turned out pretty good......I made a change or two........mostly instead of putting the facing at the neck...I made the over blouse...or have ever you want to call it.....I like and need to hide under that kind of thing.

I also made these little coin purses...the smaller ones you can use as a key chain and put in your drivers license, bank card or credit card, the larger one can also be used the same way...but it is large enough to carry your cell phone also. The red and white striped fabric is left over from aprons I have made....the rest Ada gave me.....it is from a samples book...of fabric for out door pillows and furniture...I love to use up fabric that would otherwise be in the trash.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY "LORI"
Lori is 5 today......I can not believe she is already 5.......time goes go by too fast. They surprised us late this afternoon and came by for a little while. First thing she wanted to know was where was her gift....she loves her new dress....it is just a little big...but the way she grows...that is okay. She said she has a big girl purse now like Pearl.....she really loves that. I made some chocolate grave(most people call it chocolate pudding) like my Grandma made for us when we were kids......they liked that too.....most of all Sammy Loved it...he has been wanting some for a while and so has Eddie....so they were really happy.

I WANTED TO SHARE

These are a few of the goodies I put up this summer ....they are going to be good this winter. I just pickled the pepper Saturday, I had 4 pints of jalapenos and 5 pints of banana pepper, I cut them into rings, I did both of them from the same recipe......I can't wait to try them. I cut the banana peppers up first...then the hot ones......the jalapenos........I wore rubber gloves for the first 3 pints...had to take them off to get the banana peppers out of the water bath....thought...I could get by with out wearing them.............lets just say.....I am glad I wore them as long did......and should have kept them on........but it is okay now. I did the grape jelly a few weeks ago...it turned out really good.....I have 10 pints and 12 for the little 4 ounce jelly jars.....I realized I hadn't shared the pictures then I read thishttp://msredneck.blogspot.com/ and I have to say the deer Loved ours too.

TABLERUNNER & PLACEMATS

This was my project for this weekend....I really needed to replace the old worn out tablecloth....we have enjoyed useing these......when I need to I can throw them in the washing machine.

I have some GREAT pictures of Caroline's first bus ride.....I have tried and tried to put them on here........I have spent more time than you could imagine to get them on here.......they just will not upload. Cheryl teaches at the school that Caitlyn and Caroline attend, they ride to school with her in the morning.......but sometimes in the afternoon they ride the bus to Cheryl's parents house......they are so Blessed to be able to do that.

I went to church with Jason, Cheryl and the girls this morning...it was a great service....they have a Girls Ministry...Caroline was moving up to the next level and got more badges and Caityln was also getting more badges...they really enjoy working for the badges and going to the meetings, Cheryl is one of the leaders....she really puts a lot of work into it.

CAITLYN & CAROLINE

This is Caroline on her first day of kindergarten, this was taken Tuesday. She loves it, I ask her today if she had learned anything yet, she said yes, she had learned the rules.

Caitlyn and Caroline spent last night and today with us, we had a good time. Caitlyn called Thursday night and said she already knew what she wanted for supper, Granny's Pizza, they enjoy making them with me as well as eating them. We put what was leftover in the frig.....that is what Caitlyn had for breakfast.

Caitlyn said.... 'you might be a redneck if...you ride your tractor to check the mail'.......will this is Caroline and Pawpaw going to check the mail, they had picked the grapes and then they went to get the mail....they were having a good time together.

COUPLE THINGS I FINISHED LAST WEEKEND

Seems like I have been staying really busy lately. We were busy again this past week...it seems good to get a paycheck for 32 hours....we have only been getting 24 hours for a while now.

I finished the two aprons last weekend and one of them has been pickup and the other should be picked up this week. Pearl and Lori helped me make the pincushion...we had a lot of fun making it...it is for my sister.....she loves it....it is made from a half pint jar, a little fabric some batting and some glue......we put a package of needles and some buttons inside. I think Pearl and Lori are some good little crafters.

GRANDMAMA & GRANDDADDY

Sammy and Amanda went to her cousin's funeral Thursday night and then the grave side service Friday morning. The kids came to spend that time with us, they got to spend the night Thursday and then the day Friday, Sammy and Amanda came to pick them up and were able to stay and eat supper with us.

Van and Gloria (Amanda's parents) rode the motorcycle here to see the Grandkids a few minutes, those kids really love that motorcycle, as you can see. I think Van loves giving them rides too. That sweet lady is Gloria, she loves all our Grandkids, that is Noah she is holding.

Please keep the Mitchell family in your Prayers, most of all Becky, Bless her heart she has really been through so much.

I AM SOOO TIRED

After not have much work for a long time now......We have really been busy this week. We work from 8:00am till 8:00 pm yesterday and from 8 until 6 today....don't get me wrong I am Thankful for the work..but boy am I tired. We will probably work 8 hours tomorrow and then be off the rest of the week.
Amanda loss one of her cousin's yesterday, he was only 24, he was sleeping when his Mom went to work and when she came home he was still in bed and had passed away, they don't know yet what the cause of death was, please keep his family in your Prayers. His Dad died suddenly 2 years ago, so this is really going to be hard.

HAPPY KIDS

Amanda and the kids spent Thursday and Friday night with us. We really had a good time. I saw this sprinkler at Walmart the other night, I thought the kids would like it......it doesn't work very well...but they did what a good time. Noah is a big fan of sprinklers though...he really wanted to play with the balls that go in this one so I had to carry him up to it so he could put them in and let the sprinkler shot it out. We also had fresh veggies out of the garden, the kids love to help Pawpaw bring the veggies to the house and then they really enjoy eating them.

Sammy was at church camp with his brother-in-law, it was a little break for him and I think he had a good time.

Amanda and the kids left around three this afternoon and Pawpaw and I took a nap.

Jason and his family went to Dollywood and that area this week, he called this afternoon to say they are home....sorry but I took the phone off the hook...when I went to sleep, but he said they are home safe. Praise the Lord.

HELLO

I thought I would stop in and say Hello..... I have been pretty busy lately....not that I have gotten much done. I spent the day yesterday in the recliner with my back hurting sooooo bad, I took something for pain a couple times... I hate taking pain meds...but sometimes I have to take it.

Thursday on the news they said the Pitt County Cancer Society needed hats for chemo patients, some I made these hats to send off the first of next week. Part of them are knitted on my loom knitter and the others are from a pattern I found online for chemo hats, they are soft knit fabric, except for the one fleece one.

FINISHED SEWING PROJECTS

I have gotten a couple things finished in the last couple days. I got the fabric for the apron at Walmart, I have always loved sunflower fabric and when I saw this I had to have some, I also love making aprons and really like the chef apron, I have been putting one big pocket across the front, but on this one I made two small pockets, I think I like the way they look. The birth announcement is for the Grandchild of a lady I work with, it is small and should be a pretty good size for his room.
PSALMS 96; 1

GRANDKIDS

As you know the kids were here last weekend for Noah's birthday...we took this picture....or at least tried to take it......it is really hard to get 6 kids to stay still to snap a picture...but we did get this one. They are such sweet little kids....Grandkids are sooooooo sweet.....but then sooooooo are kids.
